Picking and Choosing Your Dreams

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Experts believe you can actually “program” your mind to dream what you want it to.

This could be a sanity-preserver for those suffering from recurring nightmares. With practice, such a person could easily end the ugly cycle.

However, you don’t have to be experiencing nightmares to benefit. Anyone could use this “programming” to their benefit, even if it’s purely for amusement’s sake. Possibly the best scenario would be the person with a dilemna of some sort in his life.

Let’s say a young college student, Joe, is feeling overwhelmed by school and work. He uses this technique to make himself dream about his situation. In his dream, he brilliantly handles his time management problems with flair. He awakens, renewed, with a few ideas in mind, and voila!, he makes the Dean’s List, gets a promotion and buys a yellow Hummer. Okay, Joe and I got ahead of ourselves, but you get the idea.

Okay, how can you program yourself to dream what you want to? Easy as falling on ice. Throughout the day, think about what it is you want to dream about. Do you have a subject in mind now? If you do, start thinking about it right now and do so several times before bed. It’s worth noting that the longer you spend thinking about your subject, the stronger your chances of success.

Don’t have a subject right off the bat? No problema. Use Joe’s yellow Hummer. Seriously. Picture this grand vehicle in your mind. Spend several minutes right now creating the image in your mind. What would the interior look like? Picture yourself getting behind the wheel and turning the key. Buckle up. How does it feel? What does it smell like? Are you cock of the walk or what?! Repeat this imaging sequence throughout the day. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if you dreamt about a Hummer this evening.

Better Be Safe than Sorry

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

You have just decided to go on your dream trip. Awesome, we must congratulate you! But, have you stopped to think about the worst case scenario? What if your flight gets canceled? Or you are stuck in the middle of a storm and need to be evacuated? Or , God forbid, you need medical assistance? Then, you need to start thinking about travel insurance : a sure way to be protect at a decent price.

There are a variety of insurance types , but in general you need to be covered for: cancellation, medical emergency, baggage and personal liability. Even though you country’s embassy will help you if in trouble, you still need to pay the services, which makes travel insurance a real good asset as they do pay if the risk was insured.

Managed to get your hands on the cheapest airline tickets ? Awesome. But in this case you might want to think twice if it’s that important to pay for cancellation insurance. By the time you are done filing the paperwork, you might as well end up being covered for 10 out of the total 30 or so you paid for the flight.

If you come from an EU country, you can get free medical insurance in all European countries. Make sure to have your card which proves you can benefit from such a service. Otherwise, a travel medical insurance is a must.

Here’s the News: All the Advantages of a Rake Back Offer

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Many a bettor has asked “Why should I commit to this poker rakeback? I play at poker rooms when I have a bonus to play.” Still what if one day you take the opportunity to become a full time poker bettor? There are numerous poker players in the gaming world who kick themselves for not getting rakeback and straight off most of them have opted in for all the major poker sites. Don’t make the same mistake.

Rakeback Deals

If you are an individual who plays less than one or two dollars and only gambles if you are using bonus payments, you are receiving normally around one hundred percent rake back for the bonus on the bet. A certain well known website recently shut accounts of poker players who logged into the website exclusively to play like this. No one knows for sure if this exercise might initiate a new trend. If it does then immediately a rakeback offer will become critical. One day you may hit tiptop form and then grow very wealthy, that’s if it has not happened already. I was injured by an on the job accident and stumbled upon online poker during my recovery and never regretted it. That was a couple of years back now yet I have not even once needed a job since then all because of online betting and rakeback. It’s good idea to look ahead. Regard it as an investment in the future, even if you do not think rakeback is good for you at the minute it could be a great investment tomorrow, there is no danger. If you are considering trying out a different poker room signing up for a rake back deal has to be a great idea.

The gamblers’ assistance site Rakeback Professionals is proud to be associated with such a lot of reputable affiliates. Signing up is as easy as going to a The Rakeback Professionals site affiliate website or even as simple as e-mailing. Every partner can get everybody set up in no time. You can play straightaway. Sign up with an affiliate via Rakeback Professionals you can rest easy as every single partner has been screened and also agrees to grant permission to Rakeback Professionals to arbitrate whatever concerns which might occur. Since we investigate our associates, issues have been relatively few and we invariably work straight off to straighten out any complaint for the security of all card players.

Cleveland Cavaliers Basketball: Early 2005 Season Analysis

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Former coach John Lucas actually got fined years ago for having LeBron James work out for the Cavs. The team was so determined that they literally threw the 02-03 season just to get him. And man did it work out. LeBron is better than anyone could’ve imagined, and has succeeded the hype. Just yesterday he scored 52 points! But does he have enough around him to make the Cavs a serious contender?

Over the off-season the Cavs built up an impressive supporting cast to surround LeBron with. Larry Hughes is prolific both offensively and defensively, but hasn’t scored as consistently as he did last year in Washington. Damon Jones and Donyell Marshell drastically improve the team’s 3-pt capabilities. LeBron James gets to the foul line enough to give the Cavs the League lead in foul shots made. Cleveland gets many offensive boards (largely thanks to Drew Gooden) and denies other teams from getting rebounds, allowing only 38.1 a game.

Ilgauskas and James make up most of the team’s scoring. When it comes to LeBron though, there’s an awful lot of standing around. There have been some pretty lopsided box scores over the year, where Snow or Hughes just won’t even show up. The bench is lacking a strong backup frontcourt, where undersized Alan Henderson and Jahidi White play Center. The team does a little standing around on defense too, where they are the worst team in the NBA in defending the 3.

This team is built to do serious damage in the playoffs. They’re offense is extremely potent, #3 in the NBA in PPG. They meet all the requirements a good team should have. They can hit the 3-pointer when they need to and they can dump it inside to Zydrunas Ilgauskas when they have to score inside. He and Drew Gooden easily makeup Carlos Boozer’s absence; the Cavaliers are 14th in the NBA in rebounding (only 1.2 rebounds separate them from 8th place Utah).

But really it’s all about LeBron. He is far bigger than Jordan ever was but he has a lot to learn on defense. With this much help around him, he can score more prolifically than ever before. But his teammates need to help him out. On Saturday when he scored 52 against the Bucks, the Cleveland lost the game. So in the end the supporting cast has to lend a hand as well for a victory. When Hughes scores more consistently, he’ll give a great scoring trio between him, Ilgauskas and James. It might not be this year, but the Cleveland Cavaliers are a Finals team when the supporting cast clicks.

“Breeders Cup For Dummies”

The Real Scoop On Breeders Cup

The easiest way to describe Breeders Cup is to picture a pyramid. There are two organizations at the top of the Breeders
Cup pyramid. They are the NTRA (National Throroughbred Racing Association) and the Breeders Cup Limited (Ltd). Breeders Cup Ltd oversees the Breeders Cup Foal and Stallions Nomination programs in conjunction with the Breeders Cup Stakes program which will include 125 stakes races in 2005 culminating in the Breeders Cup Championships October 29, 2005 at Belmont Park. Breeders Cup Ltd works closely with the NTRA to integrate Breeders Cup Purse and Award distributions into the Purse structures defined by the participating racetracks and their sponsors. Together the NTRA and Breeders Cup Ltd are a formidable duo and seek to expand public awareness of the U.S. and Canadian thoroughbred racing industry. They provide a forum in which the best assets of the sport are presented in all their glitter and glamour to adoring masses.

The plan seems to be working. In the year 2000 the adoring masses wagered over $108 million for the Breeders Cup Championships held at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. If you do the math, you see that about $20 million of that total went to purses, awards, and track operating expenses, it was a very good day indeed for the NTRA-Breeders Cup Ltd two-headed giant.

Back to the pyramid, so who is at the bottom? That would be you and me and all our friends, in other words, the adoring
masses. The fans spend money either by betting on the races or by buying racing paraphernalia, or by purchasing the products advertised on television and the internet and printed matter by Breeders Cup sponsors. We, the betting and buying public, are one of the the prime targets of this multi-million dollar annual championship series. And boy do we respond, to the tune of about $100 million wagered on Breeders Cup Day alone.

In the center of the pyramid are the everyday horsemen. These folks are the breeders, owners, trainers, hotwalkers, grooms, jockeys, racetrack administrators, and anyone else responsible for the day-to-day operations that keep the industry running smoothly. They are the heart and soul, the backbone of the racing industry and nothing works without them. The owners and breeders also provide the Stallion and Foal Breeders Cup Nomination fees which in large part fund the Breeders Cup Purse and Awards distribution programs. And do not forget the Breeders Cup race entry Supplemental fees.

Together the top, middle, and bottom cross-sections of the Breeders Cup pyramid form a three-tiered partnership, and Breeders
Cup Championship Day is the big party where all partners are invited.

So where does it all start? That would be the breeding farm, of course. It starts when a breeding farm forks over $500 to nominate a promising weanling for future Breeders Cup purse distributions. For instance, the nomination deadline is October 15, 2005 for 2005 weanlings. The Breeder will receive Breeders Cup Awards distributions every time the weanling finishes first, second, or third
in future Breeders Cup Stakes races. And the future owner will be eligible to receive Breeders Cup purse distributions as well. In a typical Breeders Cup Stakes race (there are 125 to be run in the U.S. and Canada in 2005) about 2/3 of the purse money is put up by the racetrack and its sponsors and about 1/3 is put up by Breeders Cup Ltd. If a Breeders Cup nominated horse wins then the connections get the winner’s share of the entire purse. If a non-nominated horse wins the connections get the winner’s share
of only the racetrack sponsored portion of the purse. This is a huge incentive for the breeders, owners, trainers, and riders to be caring for and nurturing Breeders Cup nominated horses.

Not just the weanling gets nominated, but the stallion gets nominated also. In fact, a weanling cannot be nominated unless the stallion has also been nominated. Of the over 3,000 stallions standing each year, some 1,200 are nominated annually. Stallions must be
nominated every year to maintain eligibility. The Stallion annual nomination fee is equal to the going stud fee but not less than $1,000. If his progeny finishes first, second, or third in Breeders Cup Stakes races, Breeders Cup awards distributions are presented to the
breeder of the stallion, similar to the awards program for horses nominated as weanlings.

How do the dollars add up?

The Breeders Cup Ltd is funding about $7.3 million in 2005 for Breeders Cup Stakes races, an increase of over $205 thousand
from 2004. There are 15 new Breeders Cup Stakes races this year, bringing the total U.S. and Canadian eligible races to 125.
This does not include the eight races on Championship Day, October 25, 2005, for which Breeders Cup Ltd provides $14 million
in purses. Total purses for the 125 pre-Championship Breeders Cup Stakes races are roughly $22 million. Since 1984, Breeders
Cup Ltd has distributed over $345 million in Purses and Awards. That’s quite a bit of cheese.

Of the 125 Breeders Cup Stakes races, 69 are Graded stakes run in the U.S. and 6 are Graded stakes run in Canada. This leaves a balance of 50 non-Graded stakes races.

Beginning July 1, 2005, all Breeders Cup Grade I events will be run weight-for-age. This is a victory for horsemen and for the horses themselves, as unruly Handidcap weight assignments are no longer allowed for these events. This is also a victory for bettors, as weight-for-age is a more fair and thus more predictable circumstance for race handicapping.

Finally, how does a horse qualify for the Breeders Cup Championship Day races? A maximum of 14 starters are allowed in each
Championship Day race. If more then 14 horses are entered then the race is “oversubscribed.” This is where the Breeders Cup points system kicks in. During the year, horses that finish first, second, or third in Graded stakes races earn points. More points are earned in
Grade 1 events than in Grade 2 events. For example, a winner of a Grade 1 race earns ten points, while a winner of a Grade 2 race earns six points. The number of points a horse has is critical when a race is oversubscribed. The first seven positions in an oversubscribed field
are ranked based on the point system. These seven get to run based on their points. The last seven positions are determined by a combination of points earned and the opinions of an expert panel. This provides a “buffer zone” to allow late bloomers to get a chance to
race against their peers.

Save The Body Sway For The Dance Floor, Not In Your Golf Swing

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Body motion in the swing is necessary, but too much of a good thing can wreak all kinds of havoc with your golf swing.

I received a question over the weekend from a BioForce Golf subscriber about “body motion” in the swing.

The question from our subscriber asked how not to fall into the trap of too much movement backwards during the golf swing.

What we are really talking about is weight transfer during the golf swing.

Too much weight transfer onto the back foot during the take-away and backswing causes difficulty in getting back to your front foot on the downswing.

This creates some difficulties in your timing during the golf swing.

Oftentimes, this type of swing fault is termed “body sway.”

So how do we fix this golf swing fault?

Let’s take a brief look at golf swing mechanics.

Optimal golf swing mechanics are both a rotational (rotating around a fixed spine angle) and linear (weight transfer backwards and forwards) movement.

It is the sequencing (proper order) and combination of these two biomechanical movements that develop the great foundation of your golf swing.

Amateurs often have difficulty performing these two biomechanical movements simultaneously and in the correct sequence.

Discussing “Body Sway” in Relation to Linear Weight Transfer of the Golf Swing

Amateurs often shift their weight too far onto their back foot. Once this occurs, they are never able to get their weight forward, causing them to “spin out” and leave the clubface open at impact.

A conversation I had with top teaching pro Rick Smith on body sway enlightened me on one of his teaching points: the weight transfer in the backswing cannot go past the inside arch of the back foot.

In order to limit your weight transfer in the swing to this position, you must “feel” it in your swing. You must be able to feel your weight on the inside of the back foot and not allow it to move any farther back.

If your weight transfer exceeds this position, your timing will be off, your golf swing mechanics will be flawed, and compensation of the downswing will occur.

Now knowing what we need to know about golf swing mechanics and the problems resulting from “body sway,” how do we go about fixing it?

The golf swing is one of the most intricate athletic movements performed in sports today.

It requires precision in every biomechanical movement involved in the swing, the correction sequencing of each movement, and the correct timing.

As a whole, the golf swing is a very difficult movement to perform.

Attempting to “fix” a swing fault when swinging the golf club at full tilt is almost impossible.

So what are you to do?

Simply, it is much easier to break down the golf swing into parts.

Working on pieces of the golf swing and then re-building the swing is the way to go. This is a much easier task to achieve.

Once you have broken down the golf swing into pieces, then you can focus upon the area of the golf swing that is giving you difficulty.

Fixing the area of the golf swing that is giving you problems can be addressed by implementing swing drills.

Swing drills introduce and re-enforce the proper swing mechanics into your body and allow you to eventually cure your swing fault.

This will eventually return you to a position where you can “feel” every position in the golf swing.

So, if you are struggling from “body sway” in the golf swing, break down the swing into parts and address the area of the golf swing that needs help through swing drills.

MCSE v/s MCSA

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Technology is advancing rapidly with each passing day. The world of Information Technology today is a forever growing vast expanse. Infact, the IT Certification industry has witnessed a significant turn in the past few years. In today’s arena, certified professionals are considered a step higher compared to others. Certification in the relevant IT technology has become an effective way to augment your career in that domain.

Certifications, offered by various vendors are a good way for IT professionals to seek validation of their skills. In today’s arena, there are lots of vendors offering specialization in particular domains. Professionals often get confused about which certification to go for as some of them have as little as hair thin difference between them. It is best to first identify your job roles, the knowledge and skills required and accordingly select to take a particular certification to ensure career success.

Let us in this article try and get some clarity between two Microsoft major certifications MCSE and MCSA which are often confused upon.

Why MCSE?

For a MCSE (http://www.whizlabs.com/mcse-exam/mcse-2003.html) candidate, it is preferable that he should have at least two years of experience in implementing and administering desktop and network operating systems, and designing a network infrastructure in the typically complex computing environment of medium-to-large organizations. The candidate should also have at least one year of experience administering Exchange Server environments involving multiple physical locations, mixed connection protocols, and Internet messaging. MCSE has two tracks Microsoft Windows® 2000 track and Microsoft Windows® 2003. The 2003 track requires 6 Core Exams, 1 Elective Exam and 2 Upgrade Exams to be cleared. Core Exam includes: Group I: 70-290, 70-291, 70-293, 70-194; Group II: 70-270, 70-210; Group III: 70-297, 70-298.

Elective Exams include: 70-086, 70-227, 70-228, 70-229, 70-232, 70-281, 70-282, 70-284, 70-285, 70-297, 70-298, 70-299, and 70-301.

Upgrade Exams include 70-292 or 70-296.

Either CompTIA Security+ or Unisys UNO-101 can be substituted in place of the elective exams.

Why MCSA?

The need for qualified system administrators is very real in today’s business market and the excitement for MCSA is growing daily. A candidate for MCSA (http://www.whizlabs.com/mcsa/mcsa.html) should have at least one year of experience working with a desktop operating system, a network operating system, and an existing network infrastructure. As soon as candidates pass their first qualifying exam for the MCSA program, they achieve a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification. MCSA also has two tracks Microsoft Windows® 2000 track and Microsoft Windows® 2003 track. MCSA 2003 requires 3 Core Exams, 1 Elective exam and 1 Upgrade exam to be cleared.

Core Exams include: Group I: 70-290, 70-291 Group II: 70-270, 70-210

Elective Exams include 70-086, 70-227, 70-228, 70-284, and 70-299

Upgrade Exams include 70-292

What’s the difference between MCSE & MCSA?

Let us take a look at a few major differences between the two certifications which will help you get a clearer idea about the two certifications: MCSA when compared to MCSE is a basic level certification. As an MCSA you must know every thing about implementing, managing, and troubleshooting the existing network and system environments based on the Microsoft Windows® Operating Systems. However, you will not be responsible to set up new networks and systems as a part of your job function. But as a MCSE knowledge about designing and deploying new networks and systems is necessary. Being an MCSA professional means that you will be able to implement, manage, and maintain the typically complex computing environment of medium- to large-sized companies. On the other hand, being an MCSE professional you will be able to plan, design, and implement Microsoft Windows server solutions and architectures in medium- to large-sized companies. The experience that is required for both these certifications is also different. MCSA requires 6-12 months of experience of administering client and network operating systems while MCSE requires at least one year of experience in implementing and administering network operating systems and desktop operating systems. Jobs for an MCSA include systems administrator, network administrator, information systems administrator, network operations analyst, network technician, or technical support specialist. For an MCSE jobs include systems engineer, network engineer, systems analyst, network analyst, or technical consultant. MCSA provides you with a credential that represents a set of skills which will be advantageous if you plan to pursue MCSE Certification. Therefore, earning an MCSA will qualify you with the option to use these credentials and acquire MCSE through Upgrade path to MCSE. If you look carefully, both these exams although similar to each other specialize in different domains. A clear understanding of both the certifications is necessary before you decide which one to opt for. So make the right choice and get going!!

Honors Cords

Honors cords are among if not the best way to reward students as they graduate after obtaining different academic qualifications. Basically, the honors cords are threads that are twisted together and come with tassels at each end for decorative purposes. The cords come in twos and have a knot that binds them together. The cords are supposed to be worn only during the ceremony and not after the ceremony for any other function. It is common to see graduants wearing more than one honors cords that are awards for different achievements they have had for the years they have been in an institution. This however, cannot be said for stoles and sashes.
