A Tale of the Early Skiing Breaks to Chamonix Village

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

As far back as 1770 the first tourist accommodation was opened in Chamonix village. Before this date Chamonix Mont Blanc France embodied a uncivilized and tough agricultural village where locals hunted their animals and grew their own cereals.

Chalets at that time were used to breed cows over the spring and summer. The cows milk was preserved by making it into different types of cheese and kept in the village for use during the cruel winter times. Throughout the snow season the barns were bolted, and all valued possessions were locked in a liitle shed.

Who came up with catered chalet holidays is unknown, it was likely various spirited folk who acknowledged a idea that was novel. For entrepreneur Erna Low it all started whilst she was a homesick alumna and could not see her folks in Austria as much as she liked. So in 1930 she took a gamble and placed a small ad in the papers to tempt clients on a skiing vacation. For only £15 they traveled to and from resort, were provided with meals and accommodation in the solitary chalet, and had skiing equipment and lessons. The trip was laborious , there weren’t any skiing lifts, no safety bindings, simply strong leather boots, however it was such a hit that she carried on taking groups on vacations, seeing to it that she used superb lodges and ski guides.

Ski breaks in the formative years were very different from the luxury ski chalets we experience now. Hot water was in limited supply, washrooms would be shared by all of the clients, and there wasn’t a chef; the punters were expected to help out with the chores. It was a real gamble who might share the accommodation for the vacation, you might be enjoyably surprised by meeting fresh acquaintances, or grimace at the thought of having to spend any more time with them.

The chalet holiday was later on publicized on their additional bonuses. A chalet chef, who would serve you cooked breakfast and a plentiful evening meal and baked you a cake, private bathrooms warm water for washing.

VISIBILITY.net 1st .NET Framework ETO ERP

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

VISIBILITY.net is one of the first Enterprise business applications to be written from the outset entirely using Microsoft.NET framework and Web services architecture. This methodology provides ETO manufacturers with a distinct set of advantages when deploying the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) application.

VISIBILITY.net has a highly functional user interface, providing the user with a multi-document interface (multiple windows) in a single browser session. Visibility extended the standard Microsoft ASP.NET development environment by providing a highly intuitive, interactive user experience that would not usually be possible within an Internet application.

This accomplishment is achieved with a ZERO Client interface. VISIBILITY.net does not download any software onto client PCs to operate. Any client PC with Internet Explorer 5.5 or later is capable of operating with VISIBILITY.net.

VISIBILITY.net is deployed as a true internet application – the system administrator need not know anything about the client hardware because no installation is necessary. In doing so it provides ubiquitous access for users inside the four walls of your organization, for users at remote plants and sales offices, and for users ‘on the road’.

Internet Standards Based

Some ERP vendors have put a ‘tick in the box’ against industry standards such as HTTP, XML, .NET and Web services through the use of ‘bolt-on’ technology modules.

As a company, Visibility has truly embraced these standards. With VISIBILITY.NET native use of the .NET architecture and object-oriented technology means that as an application it can easily integrate with, and use, other applications by communication with XML Web Services. The very core of the VISIBILITY.NET application makes use of this technology today, without the need for additional middleware or integration applications. VISIBILITY.NET provides a common user interface, a single integrated platform and a single software technology.

Visibility Corporation (www.visibility.com) is a leading developer and supplier of business software solutions designed for the unique needs of project-based, engineer-to-order and to-order manufacturers. Visibility’s Enterprise Application solutions help midsize manufacturers of complex products operate their businesses effectively.

VISIBILITY.net is an integrated ERP solution and more. Offering unparalleled functionality and integrated workflow, this browser-based solution cost effectively delivers the power of .NET-based Web services for use with either a Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle® database. Conducting business any place, any time, any where is a reality, deployable with unprecedented flexibility.

Stronger Abs for Golf

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Everyone wants a firm midsection. For the golfer, it delivers much more than just a coveted physique. Stronger abdominal muscles convert to better balance and a more powerful swing. Your abs are part of a group of core muscles, which also includes the back and glutes. Strength in these muscles are vital to a golfer’s stability and power. Stronger core muscles can also prevent injuries to the hips and back.

The abs play an integral role in the core muscle group. Weaker abdominal muscles can place more work on the other core muscles, therefore reducing overall strength as well as open the door for possible injuries and strain. It’s important as you work to strengthen your abs that you try to exercise in a manner that will have some carry-over to your golf swing.

Regardless of your current fitness level, strength in the core muscle group should always be one of your top goals.

Here are some exercises to help strengthen your abs and better prepare you for your next round of golf.

Reverse Crunch

Instruction:

• Lie on your back with your legs bent on top of a Swiss ball. Find an area of the ball you can grip well with your leg muscles.

• Contract your abdominals and roll the ball up towards your chest

• Lift your hips off the ground using your abdominal muscles

Target initially for 1-2 sets of 10-12 reps each.

Double Crunch

Instruction:

• Lie on the floor face up.

• Bend your knees until your legs are at a 45-degree angle with both feet on the floor.

• Your back should be comfortably relaxed on the floor with your hands behind your head.

•Contracting your abdominals, raise your head and legs off the floor toward one another.

• Slowly return to the starting position stopping just short of your shoulders and feet touching the floor.

• Keep your eyes on the ceiling to avoid pulling on your neck.

• Your hands should not be used to lift the head or assist in the movement.

Target initially for 1-2 sets of 10-12 reps each.

Remember, a stronger core can result in a more predictable, powerful and consistent golf swing.

Golf Strength Training Slows The Aging Process

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

Golf strength training is critical in slowing down the effects of aging. Issues like rapidly declining strength, flexibility, and endurance. The number of golfers who are middle age or older is growing and they all want to play as long as possible.

In order to both slow the aging process AND play longer, you need adequate levels of strength, flexibility, and other physical abilities.

Golfers (and most others) lose as they age. The cause is quite simple. They do not partake in any form of golf strength training exercises to maintain the fitness levels they had early on in life.

It is NEVER too late to improve strength and flexibility. I have worked with golfers in person and via my websites that are in their 70’s and 80’s that have almost doubled their current strength and dramatically improved their flexibility (specific to golf).

Just by doing a simple golf strength training routine a couple of times a week, you will increase the level of strength and other important aspects, and not be as aware of the changes that come with aging. You can’t stop it, but you can slow it down and even reverse it depending on your current level of fitness.

One of the major areas most senior golfers lose…is the flexibility in their midsection (core), which is critical in generating power in the golf swing. As a result, the senior golfer will make a change in swing technique, rather than address the physical limation.

There are many senior golfers who can still play a good game of golf due to the fact of playing and practicing throughout the years…however their swing execution, power and overall consistency has been dramatically affected.

Therefore, it is critical for senior golfers to maintain or increase strength, flexibility, even balance and coordination to preserve the performance or level of golf they so yearn to achieve.

Given the above scenario, I hope you realize the importance of golf strength training.

Therefore it is vitally important that you get a bed that you are happy with and it should be a good fit for your room.

You can get leather beds in all sorts of shapes and sizes from single to double beds, even small double beds. If you don’t have much spce in your bedroom but still want the modern look of a leather bed then you want to get an ottoman storage bed, these very cool beds have a massive storage cavity built into them.

When Disaster Strikes: How Long Would Your Business Survive if Files On Your Computer Disappeared?

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

A Tornado? In Birmingham? In The United Kingdom? Unthinkable!

Yes, in July 2005 (while I was putting finishing touches to my cave-house in Spain) my house, along with many of my neighbours’ houses was struck by a powerful tornado that literally tore up the streets. Leaving people homeless as their homes were bulldozered (with all their possessions inside).

Thankfully, my house was still, pretty much intact and won’t be being demolished but I work from a home office. I have lots of critical data and information on my computer – marketing information, accounts information, key contacts, books in progress to name a few. If my house was bulldozered (and I didn’t have an adequate off-site backup system) I would have lost the lot. As it was, I was still able to access my key files even from Spain.

But how would you fare? What if your computer went kaput this very minute? What if a freak accident, theft, or natural disaster literally destroyed your computer and you lost all your files? Would you be able to get back up and running with minimal fuss or would your business be crippled for a long time to come?

No one wants to think about it, but in light of recent world events it makes sense for every company to have in place a business continuity plan. This might include installing a backup generator for power, having a second office available for re-location, and ensuring your insurance policy is current, relevant and up to date.

Some of the above may be more applicable for larger companies, however one element that’s 100% critical for ALL businesses regardless of size, is to keep an up to date copy of your computer files.

Files can be lost instantly by a power surge, fire, flood, theft, virus and of course the most common risk human error (i.e. accidental deletion)!

This information is the lifeblood of your business, and needs to be backed up regularly. Unlike your office or the computer itself, your computer files cannot be replaced, yet without them you have no business.

For most companies, files to be kept safe will include:

* Databases

* Client records

* Presentations

* Invoices

* Emails

* Historical work archives

* Research

* Digital photos

A simple risk assessment question to ask yourself:

“How long would my business survive if the files on my computer disappeared right now?”

Unless you have a current ‘back-up’ or copy of your information it is quite likely that your business will cease to operate for some time, if not indefinitely soon after. In our business our database (of people like you) is extremely important. It’s taken years to build up and is irreplaceable. Which is why we have taken active steps to protect it.

There are a number of ways for you to make back up copies of your information, and these methods can be divided into 2 main categories.

1. Manual processes, which use recordable media such as tapes or disks.

2. Online backup services, which use your Internet connection to transfer data.

Manual processes rely on you carrying out the backup, rotating the media and then removing it off-site every day. Consequently they can be labour intensive, costly and in addition the media can be unreliable (i.e disks can be scratched). You don’t need me to tell you that doing it this way is certainly not lean. It’s a boring, time consuming, yet critical task, that’s not automated (but should be) that simply gets in the way of you doing your real work while putting you at unnecessary risk. See the ‘Pain or Gain’ chart in your free Lean Marketing Detox eBook for a recap.

For this reason, many companies are now signing up to online solutions, which via a small piece of software backup your information securely and automatically each day for you.

Furthermore your information is stored safely off-site so if and when disaster strikes your files are completely safe and can be instantly restored to any machine.

It’s human nature to think, “it’ll never happen to me”, however it is more accurate to think, “when will this happen to me?”

Don’t gamble with your business, back it up today and keep it safe.

For our online data backup we use and recommend www.DepositIt.com, why not check them out and make sure to set up a backup plan as soon as you can. You never know when disaster will strike!

Naveen Jain to Receive Honors from Overlake Service League

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Intelius co-founder and CEO Naveen Jain will serve as the Honorary Chair of Overlake Service League’s 10th Annual “Step Up to the Plate” Benefit Luncheon on March 19, 2009. Along with his wife Anu, Naveen Jain will receive recognition for personal service and in honor of Intelius’ involvement in helping the programs of Overlake Service League. Overlake Service League is a non-profit organization that helps families and individuals within the boundaries of the Bellevue School District through providing emergency and family assistance as well as holiday programs. Almost 300 volunteer members contribute around 35,000 hours in community service to the organization each year, enabling it to efficiently designate majority of its funds to people in need. Trish Carpenter, Director of Fundraising & Development for Overlake Service League, recognizes the important role of Intellius in the community in the face of pressing economic times. Moreover, she acknowledges the strong partnership between the two, stressing that the firm’s management and employees have personally volunteered their time and energy at the League’s projects aside from its significant monetary contributions. Intelius has remained true to its role in community stewardship. In 2008, the firm donated nearly $210,000 to more than 12 local and national nonprofit organizations. In 2009, the company also offered paid leave to employees for their time spent volunteering at local charitable organizations. Additionally, Naveen Jain and his wife are actively involved in several non-profit organizations. The couple has donated approximately $1 million to charity over the past two years. As Naveen Jain puts it, “it is our responsibility to step up when the economy has forced others to step back.” Thus, he remains dedicated to continue and expand Intelius’ outreach endeavors, encouraging others to do their part in supporting organizations that improve the lives of people. Your Intercontinental Real Property Marketplace — Serviced by The Property Index Online Company

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Despite the fact that the Property Index online service is still a recent organisation, doing business since March 2007, they have established their expertise very quickly. They are actually a extremely easy going organisation entirely focused on offering their expert guidance to anyone who is proposing to sell, buy, rent or let property across the world. Their promise: to lend you a hand to find exactly what you need fast and, obviously, sans pain.

Property can be bought just about anywhere currently, certainly the hippest area being real estate for sale in the U.S.A. It should really be easy as ABC to write a list of the mega cool realty available in the U.S.A., one reason for picking estate here being a combination of the houses and apartments you can purchase and the possibility to live amongst such a enthusiastic and bubbly population.

It’s one of the truly well-liked property markets currently, and with the lovely landscape and agreeable climate surrounding you here, how could you say no… Property in the U.S.A. is steeped in history, this region has been and is still home to many sophisticated cultures.

Around 25 years ago there was a mere trickle of British people keen on realty in the U.S.A. Ask any one person who has relocated to the U.S.A. and they’ll corroborate it. There are those who would would view it as a trend and others would view it as a as something approaching a compulsion! Patrons who are looking to migrate to this region generally range from young urban couples who are looking for a challenge in life to seniors looking to chill out and enjoy themselves.

Do bear in mind, though, that there could well be obstacles when attempting to acquire realty in a foreign market; you can find there are a hundred heterogeneous, often not very intuitive, actions be it when scheduling, inspecting or buying and completing. Even if just a single minor action is missed that is sure to initiate comprehensive obstacles plus, of course, more important, a failed investment.

Naturally, as can be anticipated with this favored place, realty could be pretty upscale in this region and this, of course, is plainly because of the expanding market demand. Notwithstanding the customer truly is spoilt in terms of choice in a destination so rich in good topography and smiling vista. Doubtlessly it’s got the whole lot any of us might feasibly fall for, and lots more.

There are a range of properties in America for sale on Property Index, from villas to apartments.

Easy Peazy Log Splitting

Friday, March 20th, 2009

An effective electric log splitter is a vital piece of equipment used professionally by foresters and lumbermen, as well as the average handyman tackling a home project. Several different electric log splitters are manufactured. Some are better suited for on sight work, while others for indoor use. Be sure to select the electric log splitter that will work best for you.

A common single blade wood splitting axe works just fine for the individual who just needs to split some firewood. The simplest hydraulic wood splitter, the common axe, works when the log splitting ax blade cuts into the lumber forcing it to split along the grain. A 15-25 inch piece of firewood can usually be split with one or two strong axe blows. Any person who doesn’t mind some solid exercise will find the regular log splitting ax to be the ideal tool.

Hydraulic wood splitters are smart investments for those who need more than just a few stacks of fire wood now and then. Both horizontal and vertical log splitters are available to choose from. You’ll need to decide which is best for you. Other options available for hydraulic log splitters include choosing a gasoline or diesel powered engine. If you always have access to a power source or run on a generator while working, an electric electric log splitter will work well for you.

Although a powerful piece of equipment, log splitters basically work by using a piston to direct the log through a fixed blade.

A good brand of hydraulic log splitter is determined by ease of use and how quickly it can finish the job with the least amount of effort by the operator. The best features of a manual wood splitter are its ability to save time, money, and manual labor. Correct safety measures should be followed at all times when using a manual wood splitter. Accidents are avoidable when precautionary safety measures are understood and followed.

While in operation, others should remain clear of the manual wood splitter for safety reasons. Safety eye wear should be worn at all times by the operator. Loose clothing which could become caught in the machinery should be avoided.

For the builder or do-it-yourselfer who works with wood often, purchasing a hydraulic log splitter is a wise choice. A manual wood splitter, with its ease of use and efficiency, is the perfect tool for a variety of wood carving projects. log splitters can be purchased from the same places that carry logging equipment and machinery.
